The County of Rockbridge offers permanent full-time employees and their dependents group health insurance that includes dental, hospitalization, medical, prescription drug, surgical and major benefits.
Employee's medical plan will be offered through Cigna for the 2023-2024 fiscal year. Employees should review plan summaries or SBC's for out-of-network information and full plan details.

This link leads to the machine-readable files that are made available in response to the federal Transparency in Coverage Rule and includes negotiated service rates and out-of-network allowed amounts between health plans and healthcare providers. The machine readable files are formatted to allow researchers, regulators, and application developers to more easily access and analyze data.
Employees who elect the Cigna HDHP are eligible to open a Health Savings Account (HSA). This HSA eligible plan provides a way to save money that is available in future years for health care expenses.

Employees who elect the Cigna HDHP are eligible to open a Health Savings Account (HSA). This HSA eligible plan provides a way to save money that is available in future years for health care expenses.
- Effective 07/01/2023, The County will contribute $50 per month ($25 per paycheck) to your HSA.
- Individuals can contribute up to $3,850 and families can contribute up to $7,750 to their HSA.
- If you are 55 or older, you can make a $1,000 catch-up contribution.
- Contributions to an HSA can be made on a pre-tax or post-tax basis, and funds within the HSA grow without incurring taxes. Funds are withdrawn tax-free for healthcare related needs without having to file receipts in case you are ever audited.
- Money deposited in the HSA is the employee's asses and is portable.

The County of Rockbridge is a participant in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS). The mission of VRS is to deliver retirement and other benefits. All full-time employees are required to contribute 5% of their annual salary (pre-tax). The amount the County contributes is determined by the VRS; for FY23 and FY24 it is 16.4%.
