Coronavirus 03/17/2020 Joint Media Release - Emergency Declaration
Lexington, VA – Rockbridge County, the City of Lexington and the City of Buena Vista have joined other localities in the region and state in declaring a Local Emergency in response to the threat to public health and safety associated with the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In addition to providing the ability to be more nimble in decision-making during this ever-changing event, the declaration will allow the localities easier access to funding and other resources from state and federal agencies as they become available.

Board of Supervisor Meetings will now be conducted through Zoom Meetings and streamed live to Youtube for public viewing. The public can view live and recorded meetings by going to the "Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors" Youtube channel linked Here. If you wish to view the meeting live you will select the video that has a red "LIVE NOW" or view the recorded meetings after the event.
Currently the public can address their comments and questions by:
- Sending an email to citizencomment@rockbridgecountyva.gov or,
- Leave a written comment in an envelope at the drop box of the front entrance to Rockbridge County Administrative building at 150 South Main Street.
We are working on adding a "Webinar" feature for Zoom meetings to begin for the April 13th, 2020 meeting. This feature will allow citizens to attend the meeting as a participant, without microphone or webcam function. The public can use the "Question and Answer" feature to address comments or questions during the meeting as well.

Rockbridge Parks and Recreation: Parks and Recreation Limited Use Policy
Rockbridge Area Department of Social Services Announcement:
Rockbridge Area Department of Social Services will be closed to the public beginning March 20th. We will conduct any required interviews for Benefits via telephone and will accept verifications through USPS or electronically. Any verifications brought to the agency will need to be placed in the drop box located outside the main entrance. We will provide access to paper forms outside the main entrance. If we have any expedited SNAP or replacement EBT cards that need to be issued we will be mailing the EBT cards. As for Family Services and Adult Services those programs will continue to function as required per policy until any other directive(s) comes from VDSS as to how those programs will continue to operate during this time. Circuit Courts County of Rockbridge- Please see the Wednesday, April 1, 2020 Circuit Court Judge Order Regarding Business at the Rockbridge County Courthouse
Monday, March 16, 2020 through Monday, April 6, 2020, non-essential, non-emergency court proceedings in all district and circuit courts are suspended absent a specific exemption. This includes a prohibition on new eviction cases for tenants who are unable to pay rent as a result of COVID-19. All non-exempted court deadlines are tolled and extended for a period of 21 days. 50 Ways Rockbridge A group of Rockbridge Area neighbors has set up a community help page. People can click the “GET HELP” and/or the “GIVE HELP” link and fill out a short form. The group will monitor the forms and try to match requests for help with offers of help. Whenever possible, the coordinators will match up those desiring help with existing governmental or non-profit helplines, such as the Rockbridge Area Relief Association. In addition, the group has started a Facebook group, Rockbridge Community Aid Covid-19, as an online place to share information and resources. Don’t forget the Community Resource List, available at from the 50 Ways Rockbridge website.
