The Sheriff's SWAT Team is staffed with deputies, officers from the Buena Vista and Lexington Police Departments, and officers from Rockbridge County Fire and Rescue. All members receive specialized training to tactically respond to high-risk incidents. These incidents are out of the ordinary and may include high-risk warrant service, bomb threats, terrorist attacks, barricaded suspects, etc. Having a properly trained and equipped tactical team reduces the time it takes to respond to a situation and allows for deputies on patrol with higher skill sets. The team trains monthly on different scenarios that may arise ensuring properly trained personnel are ready to respond to an emergency at a moment's notice.
