    About the Commission

    This Commission is responsible for coordinating fire and rescue policies throughout the Rockbridge area, including the Cities of Lexington and Buena Vista. Members serve four-year terms.


    • Operational Medical Director
    • One appointed by the Board of Supervisors
    • One appointed by the City Council of Lexington
    • One appointed by the City Council of Buena Vista
    • Two appointed by the Rockbridge County Firefighters Association (RCFA)
    • Two appointed by the Rockbridge Emergency Rescue Group (RERG)
    • One citizen representative appointed by the other eight Commissioners
    Fire and Rescue services are provided by volunteer agencies to the citizens and visitors in the region. The goal of our agencies is to provide the highest quality of services to the uses of the system, with an emphasis on effective and efficient delivery of the necessary services.
