The County Treasurer is the chief financial officer for Rockbridge County, collecting taxes and local fees, and making payments on behalf of the local government. The Treasurer is responsible for every form of revenue which comes to the county including:

  • Real Estate Taxes
  • Personal Property Taxes
  • License Taxes
  • Permits Fees
  • State Income Tax
  • Court, Sheriff and Clerk Fees

The Treasurer also manages the investment of local funds and maintains records of local finances.

Payment of Taxes

Tax bills should be paid by check or money order made to the order of Treasurer, Rockbridge County and mailed to the Treasurer's office, P.O. Box 784, Lexington, Virginia 24450.

Did you know you can pay taxes at BB&T? The bank will accept payment for taxes, provided payment is on time. You do not have to have an account at the bank, nor is there a charge for this service.

  • Fourth Quarter Estimated Income Tax due

January 31

  • Dog Tags due

March 1

  • Last day for filing Business License without penalty
  • County Decals go on sale

April 15

  • Deadline for County decals

May 1

  • State Income Tax due
  • First Quarter Estimated Income Tax due

June 5

  • First half Real Estate Tax due

June 15

  • Second Quarter Estimated Income Tax due

September 15

  • Third Quarter Estimated Income Tax due

October 5

  • Personal Property Taxes due

November 1

  • Dog Tags go on sale

December 5

  • Second half Real Estate Tax due
