TO CITIZENS OF ROCKBRIDGE COUNTY

In our democracy, government is of the people, by the people and for the people.  That is why citizen participation in local government is so essential.  Local government is the form of government closest to us in our everyday lives, and the one we are most able to influence.  Advisory and decision bodies play a very important role in county government.

The Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors (the Board), when required, appoints citizens to Boards,  Authorities, Commissions,  and Committees (BACCs) that are either decision and advisory bodies that serve Rockbridge County by overseeing the function for which the body is formed.

In order for all interested Rockbridge County residents to have the opportunity to be considered for appointment to any of these organizations, the Board has an application form and list of BACCs for use by any Rockbridge County resident to be considered for appointment.  The Board encourages all interested citizens to submit an application.  The Board will keep all applications on file and when a vacancy exists, the Board will review applications for potential candidates to fill the vacancy. Please be prepared to provide a current resume.  Certain members of BACCs must file financial disclosure statements upon appointment, and annually thereafter.

The Board appreciates all Rockbridge County citizens for their interest and willingness to participate in working for the future of The County.
