Re: South River Magisterial District Supervisor Appointment
Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors Appoints Robert Day as South River Magisterial District Representative
At a continued meeting of the Rockbridge County Board of Supervisors on Monday, January 7th, the
Board appointed Robert “Bob” Day as the South River District representative, to complete the term
previously held by Ronnie Campbell, who resigned from the Board after winning the 24th District
race for the Virginia House of Delegates.
Beginning December 26th, the Board advertised for interested residents of the South River District
to fill the seat for the remainder of the term, which ends on December 31, 2019. At its January 7
meeting, the Board received presentations from the six residents who submitted applications for the
seat. After deliberations, the Board announced the appointment of Mr. Day, who retired from the
Rockbridge County Sheriff’s Office in 2012 after serving the County for more than 34 years,
including more than 20 years as Sheriff.
Board Chairman David Hinty noted that, “Mr. Day brings a wealth of knowledge to the Board, having
been elected to five terms as Sheriff. The Board’s vote was
unanimous and we look forward to working with Mr. Day in facing challenges and seeking new
opportunities for Rockbridge County.”
“I care deeply about Rockbridge County and saw this as an opportunity to give something back to the
County I love,” noted Mr. Day. “I look forward to working with the Board to make every decision in
the best interest of our citizens.”
Mr. Day will be sworn into office prior to the next meeting of the Board on January 14th at 5:30 PM
in the County Administration Building.
